The Child and Family Guidance Center provides comprehensive and collaborative outpatient mental health services to children, adolescents and their families throughout the San Fernando and Antelope Valleys.

The Position:

We are seeking a full-time (40 hours per week) Peer Partner – CalWORK to provide support to CalWORKs clients and assist them with successful engagement with their mental health treatment team and program services. This position reports to the Coordinator of the CalWORKs program and is responsible for providing in-home and center-based education and support services to CalWORKs clients to help them move towards their treatment objectives and goal of returning to employment or vocational training program

Essential Job Functions:

Maintain an active caseload of clients and assist in the treatment team with engagement of all new CalWORKs clients.
Encourage CalWORKs clients to be an active participant in their mental health treatment program including maintaining weekly attendance at all scheduled appointments.
Teach clients how to interface with community agencies through phone contact and/or site visits to locate organizations that offer services that are culturally sensitive and adequate to address the client’s unique needs.
Assist client with navigating the public social service system and other resources in their lives; help advocate for client’s needs and can be available to accompany client to appointments in the community.
Assist the CalWORKs Coordinator and Employment Specialist with developing regular incentive celebrations and employment information panels for clients.
Assist clients in practicing time management skills, coping skills and other skills needed to achieve occupational and educational goals
Participates in weekly supervision, CalWORKs team meeting and mandatory Center in-service trainings.
May perform other duties assigned by Coordinator of CalWORKs Program.
Drives own vehicle as needed to visit clients.

Skills You Need:

Bilingual in Spanish required.
Previous CalWORKs recipient. Must have direct experience moving from the CalWORKs program to secure employment.
Must be able to function as part of a multi-disciplinary team
Sensitivity to issues confronting CalWORKs clients.
Familiarity with principles of client driven, strength-based services preferred
Must have a good sense of judgment as pertaining to the position.
Must be able to prioritize and plan work activities and use time effectively.
Must be a self-starter and be able to work independently.
Must be able to complete projects and reports in a timely fashion.
Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
Must have good interpersonal skills.
Must be able to get along with others in a courteous and respectful manner.
Must be able to maintain confidentiality.

Hours:

FSLA Status: non-exempt
40 Hours (Full-Time)

Education Required:

High School Diploma or GED
Must have participated and graduated from a Dept of Public Social Services CalWORKs/Gain Program

Contingencies:

Must be fully vaccinated/boostered to comply with the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) and LAUSD mandate. The Center will provide accommodations as required by applicable law.
