Upstate Hematology Oncology is hiring two Medical Secretaries for their front office. The hours are Monday-Friday from 8am - 4:30 pm. No weekend hours! The ideal candidate would have a basic understanding of medical terminology and have EMR experience.

Responsibilities:

Schedule appointments for new and established patients for office and other facilities
Obtain appropriate insurance authorization for medical imaging and outpatient procedures.
Obtain reports from patient appointments at outside facilities.
Process medical record requests from outside facilities.
Check patients and collect co-pays.
Handle a high volume of phone calls.
Act as main point of contact for patients and outside providers and facilities.
Document verbal conversations with patients when appropriate.
Document information into patient record in an accurate, legible and timely manner.
Organize and monitor provider's daily schedule.

Requirements:

High school graduate or equivalent with additional education desirable.
Minimum of one year work experience.
Previous clerical experience in a medical practice preferred.
Excellent customer service skills.
Ability to multitask in a fast paced working environment.
Strong computer skills and experience with windows and Microsoft Outlook.
Knowledge of medical terminology and office procedures.
Ability to use interpersonal skills to establish/maintain cooperative relationships with patients, family members, physicians, providers, managers, co-workers and external customers.
Maintain strictest confidentiality and discretion.
